In Favor and Charlie’s lives, there are lots of rules and regulations to follow. At home, at school, on the playground—there are things you can do and things you can’t. That’s just how it works. And then, the most important day of the year arrives: class picture day. Everyone is calm and focused on the photo—everyone except Favor and Charlie, who’ve decided that today is the day things are going to change at Petit Boisé School! An ode to daring and friendship. How and when should we stand up against injustice? What power do the decisions we make hold? Who has the right to tell us what to do? Through an ingenious system of ladders that allow for a thousand and one acrobatic feats, we discover that between obedience and disobedience lies a whole world of possibilities. The story of Favor and Charlie, told by a mysterious narrator, invites children to be creative as they navigate a world that can sometimes be unfair.
