Jean Derome & Somebody Special: The Smile
A tense, distinctive form of jazz characteristic of Derome—playful yet angular music, whose provocative harmonies in no way detract from its swing and engaging character. In other words, far from being conventional, this music ventures off the beaten path, without ever straying completely from jazz.
Hugo Blouin: The Buffet
At bassist Hugo Blouin’s wild buffet, songs follow one another like the dishes and topics of conversation during an evening with friends. On the menu are the best recipes from his loved ones, as well as debates about art, anecdotes, and childhood memories. These stories were gathered during interviews, then transcribed to provide the basic ingredients for each piece. The buffet is passionately prepared by a group of Michelin-starred chefs, featuring John Hollenbeck on drums, Eugénie Jobin on vocals, Aurélien Tomasi on wind instruments, and Marianne Trudel on piano.
The activity takes place in all weather conditions, unless safety is compromised
