About
Aly draws inspiration from the Mandinka epic, a major foundational narrative of African oral traditions dating back to the 13th century. Through his work, he explores the relationships between memory, identity, and cultural heritage from perspectives that are at once introspective, communal, and societal. This production is a personal journey of reclaiming and reconnecting with his roots, allowing him to reveal his authentic identity. It also helps forge a diverse collective memory, while paying tribute to those who doubt their place in society, even as they hold the most powerful force for transformation.
Performers: Justin Rapaport, Jessica Muszinsky, Diana Leon, Raphaëlle Sealhunter, Eowynn Enquist, Alyssa Allen, and Isak Enquist
