About
Formed in 2016, the Montreal band comment debord plays groovy, laid-back rock with meaningful lyrics. The septet draws inspiration in particular from 1970s music to create a distinctly Quebecois sound that blends disco, funk, indie, and folk influences. Following *comment debord* in 2020 and *monde autour* in 2023—two albums that were critically acclaimed and embraced by the public—they earned several nominations at the 2024 ADISQ Gala (including Album of the Year —Critics’ Choice, Album of the Year—Pop, and Song of the Year), won the FEQ Rising Star Award in 2025, and performed a concert at MTelus during the Francos de Montréal as part of a double bill with Bon enfant. Debord is currently working on a third album, which promises to be both danceable and unifying.
