Philippe B’s beautiful and vibrant folk music has been resonating on our music scene for over 20 years. Recognized as one of our most brilliant singer-songwriters, the Abitibi-born artist is back with *Cigale*, his seventh album, on which he delves deeper than ever into his memories. Drawing inspiration from his youth to illustrate the reality of a musician at the start of his career, Philippe B once again demonstrates his mastery of the art of songwriting by exploring universal themes such as the passage of time, the relationship with age, and the development of identity.
While the finesse and ingenuity of his arrangements have been highlighted time and again, it is above all the beauty of his melodies and the disarming intimacy of his lyrics that continue to move so many people; even when stripped down to their simplest form, Philippe B’s songs reveal a rare depth.
