First, there’s David Lafore’s repertoire—by turns playful and melancholic—with his voice spanning a surprising range, his wild guitar playing, and his precise lyrics, which never fail to surprise. And then, tying it all together, there’s his stage presence and his use of contrast—both hilarious and deeply moving. He makes us laugh, cry, think, and laugh all over again! A concert/show full of ups and downs, with an amazing groove, guided by the unique songwriting and spirit of this very contemporary singer-songwriter. It’s worth noting that this is a completely acoustic performance—that is, without any sound system—which naturally creates a sense of intimacy, warmth, and, one might even say, a rather rare sense of timelessness.
