About
887 is a journey into the world of memory, drawing on Robert Lepage’s childhood recollections. Why do we remember the phone number from our youth, but not the most recent one? Why do certain songs or images stand the test of time, while the name of a loved one might slip our minds? Through these questions, Lepage explores the mechanisms of memory, forgetting, and the unconscious.
Somewhere between theater and lecture, he weaves connections between personal memory and collective memory, focusing as much on individual memories as on the traces left in public spaces: street names, monuments, and cultural heritage. In the age of digital storage and virtual memories, 887 also questions the relevance of live performance, an art form rooted in the very act of remembering.
The activity takes place in all weather conditions, unless safety is compromised
