A head-on collision between Senegalese drums and raw beats, Guiss Guiss Bou Bess’s electro-sabar (meaning “new vision” in Wolof) is shaking up the global music scene by bringing a new dimension to Senegal’s ancestral sounds (Radio Nova, 2021). By infusing the raw energy of ritual percussion and the transcendent beauty of spiritual chants into UK garage, grime, dubstep, and house basslines, the trio, hailing from the bustling neighborhoods of Dakar, has been reinventing one of the most iconic rhythms of the Land of Teranga since 2016 and stylishly crafting a hybrid, futuristic, explosive, and unifying trance.
