About
Founded in 2016 by Yassine Boudouch, the project draws on the mystical sound of the guembri and the trance-like rhythms of the crotales to create vibrant, hypnotic music. After beginning with roots in the Gnawa tradition in Montreal, the group evolved toward a more fusion-oriented style in 2019. Boulila then expanded its collaborations and attracted the attention of audiences and the media, particularly after winning first prize at the Syli d’Or competition. Invited to perform at several festivals, the group is gradually establishing itself on the Quebec music scene. Blending African heritage with contemporary influences, Boulila offers an energetic and immersive musical experience, affirming an artistic identity that is rapidly expanding.
