About
Originally from Guatemala, Antonio Pichillá Quiacaín anchors his practice in the Tz’utujil textile traditions passed down by generations of women, including his mother. Using a belt loom and precise movements, he reinterprets ancestral Mayan craftsmanship while questioning Western approaches to production and conservation.
Born and based in Tuktoyaktuk, Maureen Gruben is an Inuvialuk artist whose multidisciplinary practice incorporates materials recovered from the Arctic. She explores the links between territory and communities, addressing the environment, melting ice, and Indigenous hunting rights.
The exhibition launch will take place on February 28, 2026, at 1 p.m. at the Materia Centre, as part of Manif d'art 12. Free guided tours, without registration, will take place on March 7 and 28 and April 11, with Rose Guyon.
The activity takes place in all weather conditions, unless safety is compromised
