After 40 years in the business without ever imagining she’d return to the stage—let alone perform solo—Chantal Lamarre presents the joyful, bio-comic cabaret *Steppettes et cornemuse*. The girl with glasses, who loves nothing more than telling stories, has put together a show that’s one of a kind on the cultural scene… A return to cabaret for just one night. A moment to reminisce about the good and not-so-good old days, to laugh at our quirks, and to find joy amid the adversity of our times. It’s a return to her roots: a venue, a stage, a spotlight. An observer of the world, a mockingbird, a host, and a woman of the stage, she invites the audience in, sings a little song, and even dares to try a bit of tap dancing. The “oooos” should follow the “aaaas,” promising laughter and perhaps even that essential little lump in the throat. In short, without any pretension, it’s a winning formula for a variety show with vintage flair that tackles very contemporary issues.
