About
Fifteen years after his remarkable debut with “I Wonder,” Bobby Bazini is taking the next step in his career with *Seul au cinéma*, his very first French-language album. Long pressed by fans and journalists to sing in French, the singer-songwriter nurtured this desire for years before finding the right moment and the right voice. After an initial, unsuccessful attempt in 2022 with his longtime collaborator Connor Seidel (producer of the previous album, *Pearl*), the album is now seeing the light of day following a personal journey. The concept for *Seul au cinéma* emerged following a memorable experience at a multiplex: nine theaters, nine atmospheres, nine fragments of stories… all metaphors illustrating Bobby’s quest for identity, caught between solitude and introspection. The album features nine songs, each like an inner “film.” Musically, Bobby and Connor have moved away from grandiose orchestrations in favor of a more stripped-down sound: two guitars, a computer, a few resampled strings, and sounds recorded in real movie theaters. Inspired by Daniel Bélanger’s *Rêver mieux* and Jim and Bertrand’s *La tête en gigue*, they strike a subtle balance between acoustic and modern sounds, driven by Robbie Kuster’s drums, Conner Molander’s keyboards, Alex Francoeur’s flute and saxophone, and backing vocals by Odessa Pagé, Bobby’s partner. In his eyes, the release of *Seul au cinéma* feels like the premiere of a film in which he finally plays himself, expressing himself authentically in his native language. With this tour, Bobby Bazini invites his audience to immerse themselves in the world of *Seul au cinéma*.
