About
Amaryllis is studying science at the university. Anthony is incarcerated in a prison. Their lives should have run parallel, without ever crossing paths. Yet they end up in the same small, drab room where, for two hours a week, Amaryllis becomes a French teacher and Anthony a high school student. Over the course of these weekly meetings, they’ll have to, despite themselves, get to know each other and learn to trust one another. *Volunteering* is a behind-closed-doors story that is both sensitive and gripping, where words serve not only as the driving force of the plot but also as a catalyst for the unlikely and endearing encounter between two people made vulnerable by life paths that are polar opposites. In a narrative that is at times tense and at times playful, the author highlights the richness that can emerge when two opposing worlds come into contact. She also addresses issues of social inequality, justice, education, and gender relations.
In case of inclement weather, the activity will take place indoors
