About
*Topography of Desire* is the first monograph by Montreal-based photographer Patrick Bélanger, a native of New Richmond in the Gaspé Peninsula. The book treats the male body as a territory to be surveyed: six sections, each named after a surveying concept—Datum, Azimuth, Isobath, Triangulation, Thalweg, Subsidence—guide the viewer’s gaze from a distant observation to a state of saturation. 140 pages, 80 photographs, fourteen men, none of whom are professional models.
The launch will take place in the atrium of Le Stud, 1812 Sainte-Catherine Street East, on August 27, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Free admission. The author will be present, accompanied by seven of the fourteen men photographed. Both editions of the book—softcover and hardcover, signed and numbered—will be available on site.
This work is intended for a mature audience (18 and older).
