About
The play tells the story of Gaston, a soldier who returned from World War I suffering from amnesia and with no memory of his past. Taken in by the director of an asylum and employed as a gardener, he leads a peaceful life until several families claim that he is their missing child. Among them, the Renaud family believes they recognize him as Jacques Renaud, a violent and immoral young man. Gaston, who has a gentle and kind nature, is horrified by this identity attributed to him and refuses to see himself in this portrayal.
