About
Featuring 22 pieces drawn from 17th- and 18th-century church music from the era of the Ancien Régime (the French monarchy), the concert will be punctuated by commentary from the artist. Works by three of Louis XIV’s four organists will be performed: those of Nicolas-Antoine Lebègue, Guillaume-Gabriel Nivers, and Louis Marchand.
A leading figure in Baroque music in Quebec, Geneviève Soly is recognized as an organist, harpsichordist, musicologist, educator, and cultural manager. As founder and artistic director of the ensemble Les Idées heureuses from 1987 to 2023, she has left her mark on the music scene through her commitment to promoting the Baroque repertoire. She has performed on Europe’s greatest stages with renowned artists, in addition to receiving several honors recognizing her entire career and her exceptional contribution to music.
