Danças Ocultas is a quartet of accordionists from Águeda, near Porto, recognized as one of the most original ensembles in contemporary Portuguese music. For over 35 years, these four musicians have distinguished themselves through a unique approach: lyrical, minimalist, and deeply evocative music, performed exclusively on four diatonic accordions. Inspired by the traditional music of Portuguese villages, tango nuevo, and chamber music, their style—sometimes described as “impressionistic folk”—creates delicate soundscapes imbued with melancholy and poetry. Acclaimed on international stages, the quartet has engaged in numerous artistic collaborations and toured extensively around the world. Their most recent album, *Inspirar* (2025), quickly rose to the Top 10 of the European World Music Charts.
