Ariane Roy, named Radio-Canada's Revelation of 2021-2022, is a young singer-songwriter from Quebec City. She excels at creating uninhibited alternative pop melodies, carried by her rich lyrics and surprisingly mature voice. She relies on contrasts and spontaneity both in her songs and on stage. With a disarming and refreshing naturalness behind her guitar, she promises to dazzle audiences, surrounded by her four musicians, with her show medium plaisir, directed by artist LUMIÈRE. In March 2020, the artist independently released her first EP, AVALANCHE (n.f.), and earned a nomination in the Pop EP category at the Gala alternatif de la musique indépendante du Québec (GAMIQ). In October 2020, the finalist at Francouvertes 2020 unveiled the song Ta main, accompanied by a first music video, directed by Adrian Villagomez, which earned her the Jury Prize at the first Rendez-vous Québec Cinéma music video tournament and her first nomination at the ADISQ Gala in the Music Video of the Year category. This song also earned her a nomination for the SOCAN Songwriting Prize. In 2021, she won the Slaight Music Award for Emerging Songwriter from the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. Her first official album, medium plaisir, was released on February 11, 2022, on the La maison fauve label.
